"Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe."

I Timothy 4:12

 Our Purpose

We believe that our purpose as a ministry is to be a Biblically functioning community as God designed us to be. Plans, programs and personalities won't last, but, God's purposes will last. CCYM is not built upon gimmicks, nor personalities, nor programs. It is built on the eternal purposes of God.

CCYM gets its purpose from what is known as The Great Commandment, (Matthew 22:37-40) and The Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). Within these verses, we find five biblical purposes.

Those five purposes are:

  • Love the Lord with all your heart (Worship)

  • Love your neighbor as yourself (Ministry)

  • Go and make disciples (Evangelism)

  • Baptizing them (Fellowship)

  • Teaching them to obey (Discipleship)

From these five biblical purposes, we have developed a vision statement that expresses what we are about:

CCYM exists to
reach youth with the message of the cross, to
connect them with other believers, to help them grow in their faith, and to challenge those who are growing to discover their ministry and honor God with their lives.

Our vision statement is simply a target at which we seek to aim everything we do. Every event and every program will be geared at fulfilling this purpose statement.

 Our Process

In order to be effective in reaching youth, we must first identify the youth within our church and community. Knowing a youth's level of commitment enables us to design purpose-driven programs that will help fulfill the five Biblical purposes of our ministry.

Community: Students committed to not attending church: They are living apart from Christ

Crowd: Students committed to visiting church for special events: They are hearing about Christ.

Connected: Students committed to attending church: They have a relationship with Christ

Committed: Students committed to spiritual habits: They are growing in their relationship with Christ

Core: Students committed to doing ministry: They are using their spiritual gifts to serve God

CCYM desires to reach community youth and nurture them to become core youth. Our programs and events are designed to funnel youth to become core leaders who have discovered their spiritual gifts and are serving in their area of giftedness.

 Our Programs

 4:12 Groups (Small Groups)

In life, there are no LONE RANGERS!

(plus, even the Lone Ranger had Tonto…)

Life is too crazy to do it alone! And there are tons of things that provide a superficial place to connect (like sports, hobbies, or music). While these things aren’t bad, they

don’t provide genuine connections. CCYM desires to provide youth with the opportunity for genuine connections with their peers and an adult. This is one of the reasons for our 4:12 Groups.

In a 4:12 Group, you will be known, cared for, challenged to grow, and supported as you journey through this thing called life. 4:12 Groups are based on the principles of I Timothy 4:12 and Ecclesiastes 4:12. We believe 4:12 Groups are totally essential for your spiritual growth! 4:12 Groups meet September through May on Sunday evenings, from 5:30-7:15 p.m.. This is definitely the place to "Get Connected".

 Youth Worship Service

Each Wednesday night, youth will have the opportunity to encounter God in transformational worship. Our services are geared toward reaching youth through music, drama, multimedia and a message from God’s Word. Service begins at 6:30 p.m.

 Sunday Morning Bible Study

The function of Sunday Morning Bible Study is to build on-mission Christians through open Bible study groups. You will find a place to grow in your walk with Christ and in your relationships with other youth. It begins at 9:00 a.m.

 Youth Drama Team

The youth drama team meets from September through May on Sunday evenings at 4:15. They perform regularly in worship at Front Street and our satellite church, Grace Fellowship at the Lake.

 Summer Camp

Each summer, the youth attend a summer camp, that is geared toward helping us accomplish our purpose. The camp usually lasts Monday through Saturday and is filled with biblical teaching, transformational worship and team building activities. Camp is always a special time as youth grow closer to Christ and each other.

 Missions

We provide multiple opportunities for missions. Each month the youth play a large role in the Barnabas Project, which is an outreach to our church members as well as our community. We also take part in servant evangelism and Bible School. Each year, we take a week long mission trip where we seek to meet the physical needs of people, so we will have the opportunity to share the love of Christ with them.

 Disciple Now Weekends

A Disciple Now weekend is a local retreat where students stay in the homes of church members and participate in a detailed Bible study taught by adult leaders. A full weekend consists of at least five or six Bible studies, times of small group and congregational worship, and times of wild and crazy recreational fun.
