A Word From the
Pastor
Satisfied in Jesus
Christ
This coming Sunday
we are going to look at what it means to be complete in
Christ. Since the time of Christ, Satan and his false teachers
have led people away from the true gospel in search of
something more. One area that I see many Christians going
astray is in following the prosperity gospel. This gospel says
that in coming to Christ, you can be healthy and wealthy. No
more pain, no more suffering. This is not the gospel. This is
idolatry when you seek the gifts of God instead of God
Himself.
The true Gospel
says that we are complete and satisfied in Christ. Even in the
midst of our deepest darkest moments, in the midst of tragedy,
God is all sufficient. There are many Christians searching for
something more, something deeper in the Christian life and it
is leading people to worship the god created in the minds of
men rather than worshipping the God who is.
This Sunday we
will see what it means to be complete in Christ. We will see
how we are completely satisfied in Christ. God has already
given us everything we need to live a life of godliness.
Paul's warning to the Colossians and to us is to beware
lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit,
according to the tradition of men, according to the basic
principles of the world, and not according to
Christ.
I look forward to
our time of worship together Sunday, Be sure to invite a
friend with you as we worship God in spirit
and in truth.

Prayer
Point
The Stewardship of
Gifts
Last week we
looked at Matthew 25:14-30 and talked about the Stewardship of
Souls in relation to the "talents" God has entrusted to us
since Jesus has gone back to Heaven. I hope you have been
praying for God to show you ways to prepare others for
eternity. That is
the most important job we have to do - by praying for them and
investing our lives in theirs.
This week we will
think about the Stewardship of Gifts God has given us to
multiply and give back to Him. Think about the gifts
God has given you personally: talents, time, money, spiritual
gifts, job, family, friends, and on and on. God is expecting the
very highest "return" on all that He gives us. It's not ours to keep,
it's ours to use for Him.
There's a line in
one of our praise songs that says, "Every blessing you pour
out, I'll turn back to praise". Do you know that the
best and highest praise we can give to God is not to sing
songs with our lips, but with our lives? Don't let your talents
lie dormant; there are many out there in need of what only you
can give. Do the
most excellent job you can do; be the best friend you can
be. Give until it
hurts; go until you drop. Don't bury your
talents or hoard your gifts. If you do, like the
unfaithful steward, you will be ashamed at His
coming.
Lord, may our
lives sing Your praise, every moment of every day. Teach us to give our
blessings back to You so You can multiply them as You did the
loaves and the fishes.
Holy Spirit, empower us to be profitable servants -
good stewards of all God has blessed us with.
His
servant and your friend,
ginny
stikeleather
