A Word From the Pastor

Saturday Night Worship

This coming Saturday, February 9, is our monthly Saturday night worship service. Our youth are going to be presenting the powerful skit they performed in worship a couple of months back. If you were there that Sunday, you will remember the powerful imagery of how Satan likes to take us deeper and deeper into sin, until finally we are at a place of despair and hopelessness. There are many teenagers who take their lives each year because they have no hope. The purpose of this skit is to show people the amazing power and grace of Jesus Christ. It does not matter how low your life has sunk. His grace reaches to the deepest levels of despair and brings the hope we all so desperately need.

Teenagers are not the only ones who struggle with sin, pain and hopelessness. In fact, if people in our church were completely honest, there would be some who would say they are in that place of bondage and hopelessness.  It is so easy for us to take our eyes off Christ and to get caught up in the things that are happening around us. My hope and prayer for this Saturday is that it will be a time of renewal and revival. I pray that it would be a time of awakening in our church.  I pray for those who are in bondage that they would be loosed from their chains and they would experience the freedom in Jesus Christ described in Galatians.

I know your calendars are full and that this may seem like one more thing. That is certainly not the intent of our Saturday Night Worship. The goal of our Saturday night worship is to first provide you with another opportunity to connect with God. In our busy worlds, too often God gets our leftovers and not our first fruits. Worship is our greatest privilege and our highest priority.  God is worthy of our very best.

The second purpose of this service is to prepare us for Sunday morning.  Our worship service on Sunday morning is what I believe to be one of the most critical times we gather as a family. With that being said, it is so important that we take the time necessary to prepare for that service. When we put it into perspective, and we think about the fact that when we come into that place, we are there to meet with the God of the universe, we must take time before we enter to prepare our hearts for worship. I hope that each week you will take the time necessary to prepare for that service so when you enter, you enter worshiping instead of coming to worship.

 N.B. Mills Reminder

Tuesday, February 12, is "Teacher Treat Day" for N.B. Mills. Please bring your treats to church by Sunday, February 10, if you need assistance in delivering them. The treats may be left in the PreSchool 5 Sunday School classroom. Thanks for your help.
