 A Word From the Pastor

Happy Father's Day - Doughnuts for Dads this Sunday

I am looking forward to our time together this Sunday as we celebrate our Fathers.  We will have doughnuts, coffee and juice for dads in the breezeway from 8:30 until 10:30.  I hope all dads will come by so we can say thank you for all you do as a dad.  Our sermon this Sunday, Leading in the Home, will come from Joshua 24:14-18.  Fathers have been entrusted with the responsibility of leading their families to faith in Christ.  I hope this Sunday will be an encouragement to our fathers as I know life can be difficult and challenging.  I hope you will join with us, prayerfully, as we look to God's Word for guidance and instruction.

Deacon Nominations

It is time once again for the church body to nominate deacons for the upcoming church year.  The Deacon Body is charged with the responsibility to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of the church body extending to our Saints at Home and Saints in Care.  The function of the Deacon Body is to give leadership for the spiritual development of the members through personal example and deed.

As you think through the nominating process, please read through the qualifications listed in 1 Timothy 3:8-13.  Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience.  But let these also first be tested: then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless.  Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.  Let deacons be the husband of one wife, ruling their children and their houses well.  For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

The deadline for nominations is Sunday, July 6.  You can submit your nominations in writing, by email or by calling the church office (704) 872-7623.  Each nominee will be screened by the deacon leadership.  After much prayer and examination, the deacon leadership will present a list of candidates to be voted on at the Family Business Meeting, Sunday evening, August 17th.

 I Picture You Dad

by:  Danielle Myers

I picture you,
Dad in heaven looking over me.
I picture you,
Waiting for me to join you,
I picture you,
Saying it is beautiful but wishing you were here
I know you
Are in my heart but I miss your face, your smile,
Your hugs and kisses and your love.
I miss your everything.

 THANK YOU!

To the People of Front Street Baptist Church,

Words cannot express the thanks for all the prayers and help in the saving of young Justin Holt's life.  God showed extreme mercy, and the prayers of God's people and God's hand in placing all the helpers at the right place and the right time are the only reason Justin is with us today.  God directed the caregivers, passersby, EMS, helicopter pilot, doctors, nurses; each and everyone.  I thank God for all of these.  Our church family, school friends, relatives and others have been so gracious.  God is with us and for us.  Justin has a long recovery period but we are so very thankful to God and His mercy.

Thanks Gratefully,
Ida and Hal Beasley, Jr.
