 A Word From the Pastor

VBS This Coming Sunday

This is such an exciting week in the life of the church!  VBS is just around the corner and the VBS workers are spending hours each day in preparation.  I would like to invite every church member to join in praying for our workers as well as our children.  Let's work to set aside at least 15 minutes a day between now and Sunday, June 29.  VBS is the most effective outreach in churches across the nation.  I pray that many children will come to understand the truth of the Gospel this year in VBS and that they will surrender their hearts to Christ.

Thank you, Karen, for the countless hours of work and to all the other VBS leaders who will rush to get here after work.  I know you all lead busy lives, and I thank you for making this investment in the kingdom of God.  Your sacrifice and commitment do not go unnoticed!!!

Deacon Nominations

It is time once again for the church body to nominate deacons for the upcoming church year.  The Deacon Body is charged with the responsibility to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of the church body extending to our Saints at Home and Saints in Care.  The function of the Deacon Body is to give leadership for the spiritual development of the members through personal example and deed.

As you think through the nominating process, please read through the qualifications listed in 1 Timothy 3:8-13.  Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience.  But let these also first be tested: then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless.  Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.  Let deacons be the husband of one wife, ruling their children and their houses well.  For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

The deadline for nominations is Sunday, July 6.  You can submit your nominations in writing, by email or by calling the church office (704) 872-7623.  Each nominee will be screened by the deacon leadership.  After much prayer and examination, the deacon leadership will present a list of candidates to be voted on at the Family Business Meeting, Sunday evening, August 17th.

Vacation Bible School
June 22 - 27, 2008!

6:00 - 8:45 p.m. Each Night

Click Here to Pre-Register Your Child

VBS begins this Sunday! Parents and children will enjoy a kick-off party at 6:00 pm.  Everyone will be out on the lawn enjoying refreshments and inflatables, while registration takes place.  PLEASE visit the registration table to make sure your child is registered for VBS!

Beginning Monday night, through Friday night, each "power lab" will begin at 6:00pm in the Sanctuary.  Parents, you will need to walk your child into the sanctuary where their crew leaders will be waiting for them.  They will be grouped by grade levels.

Also after Power Lab, you will need to pick your child up in the Sanctuary at 8:45.  We will begin the final station of the night around 8:25.  This is called the "Faith Fusion Finale" where we will review the evening's activities.  You are more than welcome to come join us for this station and pick up your child afterwards.

We will be collecting an offering each evening to support our Operation Kid-to-Kid mission project.  This year, we will purchase soccer balls to send to South Africa, where missionary teams will provide soccer clinics and use each ball to tell kids about Jesus.  The kids at our VBS will write messages on the balls, pray over them, and draw a picture in a book to send to the children in Africa.

To celebrate our week of fun, you and your family are invited to attend our worship service on Sunday, June 29 at 10:30 am.  The children will sing VBS songs they have learned and participate in the service.  This is in lieu of the traditional "family night".  Please plan to come.

It is going to be an exciting week, and we can't wait to see you!
Adult VBS T-Shirts!

VBS Workers:  If you would like to have a VBS T-shirt, we are asking that each person purchase their own RED T-shirt.  Karen has ordered "Fizz" iron-ons.  We do have some extras.  The cost of these is $1.50 each.  Please email Karen at karen@frontstreet.org if you are interested.

We have 2 CDs left to purchase.

Please bring your Sugar Cookie donations to the kitchen on Sunday.

Thank you!
