A Word From the Pastor

Vacation Bible School

VBS is going great so far this week. Thank you, Karen, and everyone who is working in VBS or praying for VBS.  I pray that God will use this week to impact our children for eternity.  This coming Sunday morning, we will have a special service to celebrate all that God has done through VBS.  We are praying that we will have many families from the community with us. Please continue to pray for the children, youth and adults involved in VBS this week as well as for the services this Sunday.  I know it is going to be a great time together in the presence of God!

Deacon Nominations

It is time once again for the church body to nominate deacons for the upcoming church year.  The Deacon Body is charged with the responsibility to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of the church body extending to our Saints at Home and Saints in Care.  The function of the Deacon Body is to give leadership for the spiritual development of the members through personal example and deed.

As you think through the nominating process, please read through the qualifications listed in 1 Timothy 3:8-13.  Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience.  But let these also first be tested: then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless.  Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.  Let deacons be the husband of one wife, ruling their children and their houses well.  For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

The deadline for nominations is Sunday, July 6.  You can submit your nominations in writing, by email or by calling the church office (704) 872-7623.  Each nominee will be screened by the deacon leadership.  After much prayer and examination, the deacon leadership will present a list of candidates to be voted on at the Family Business Meeting, Sunday evening, August 17th.

        SYBA Children's Ministry Camps

July 10th, 17th and 24th

10:00 - 12:00 at the Baptist Center

Children's camps are open to any child preschool through 5th grade who are members or attend one of our S.Y.B.A. churches.  Each camp is limited to 25 children, so enroll early!  These camps will have different themes and Bible stories each week, so the children are welcomed to attend more than one day.  We also will have music, crafts, refreshments and games.  Campers are encouraged to be involved with the Baptist Center Food Pantry by bringing a food donation.

Contact Mary Jane Hoover for more details or to register your child.  Email at:  mhoover@sybaptist.org or (704)873-4372, ext. 3.

You Are Invited to Join Us!

Please join us every Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. in the main Sanctuary for a Prayer Walk for our Sunday Morning Worship Services.  This will be a special time of prayer as we praise Him, humble ourselves and seek His face.
