 A Word From the Pastor

I hope our study on Acts 1:8 has been as meaningful and challenging to you as it has been for me these last few weeks. This week we will zero in on Jerusalem. It seems natural that Jerusalem (our community) would be the easiest place to share the gospel. It means that we are on mission at our jobs and at our kids' ball games. We are on mission as we go through our daily lives. The truth is, missions in Jerusalem are one of the most difficult places. There are several reasons for this, but the main one is that we are trying to reach people that see how we live each day. Some of your coworkers may be shocked to find out that you are a Christian. We know that when we share with others what we believe, they will get out the magnifying glass to find things that are wrong in our lives.

We all know that we are not perfect. We still have a sinful nature that we have to die to daily. In order to maintain our witness, our words and actions must be carefully considered each day so that we do not blow our opportunity to tell someone about the God who loves us so much! I hope you will join us this Sunday as we begin to look at our Jerusalem and begin to make plans to reach our communities for Jesus Christ. This is an area in which all of us are already being witnesses; the question, really, is what kind of witnesses are we?

I want to take a moment to tell you how proud I am of our youth. They have spent this week at the church, sleeping on the floor, showering in a trailer, worshipping each night and reaching our community with the Good News. They are so awesome at stepping out of their comforts zones and sharing their faith. Adults, we could learn a lot from our youth. Please take the time to encourage the way they allow themselves to be used by God. Youth, I love you guys and I am so proud of how you are letting God use you and the example you are setting for the rest of us. 1 Timothy 4:12 - Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Pastor Tim

Baptism Celebration August 3rd

We are planning a Baptism Celebration for Sunday, August 3.  There are a number of people who have recently accepted Christ or have joined the church and are in need of baptism.  If you would like to be baptized on this day, please contact the church office (704-872-7623) and set up an appointment to meet with Pastor Tim if you have not already spoken with him.

Family Business Meeting

Sunday, August 17

at 5:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary

Please make plans now to attend.

  High 5!

Our next High 5! will be Wednesday, July 30.  We will meet in the Jabez classroom at 2:30 p.m. to decorate handbags, soccer "GO" balls, and business cards.  We will be helping the youth with their Home Mission Trip by handing out church information and water bottles at Lakewood Park and McAnderson Park.  Afterwards, we will be eating dinner at CiCi's pizza (back by popular demand).  Bring $5.00 and a non-perishable food item.

"I'm a Christian Now!"

New Discipleship Class for Children

Classes Begin This Coming Sunday, August 3

"I'm a Christian Now" is a four week class for children who have recently prayed to receive Christ.  This class covers the basics of what happens next.  Things like: what it means to be a Christian, your testimony, baptism, Lord's Supper, the church, and spending time with God.

The class will be taught by Karen Shea during the Sunday School hour in the month of August.  The first class begins August 3 (skipping Aug 10, due to the Acts 1:8 Lay Renewal Weekend). We will meet for worship as usual in the fellowship hall and then move upstairs for the class.

PLEASE let Karen know if your child will be attending.  There is a workbook required, which needs to be ordered.  There is no fee for the class or the workbook.

News and Announcements

Do you have news and announcements for Sunday Morning? If so, please send them to: news@frontstreet.org or call the church office by Thursday morning of that week. We will insert your announcement into our slide show presentation before the service begins. Please be sure to include any clipart or photos.

*The youth will have adult supervision.

It's time again to think about school starting back!  Over the next several weeks, we will be collecting school supplies for N. B. Mills.   Donation boxes will be set in the hallway outside the Fellowship Hall.  Please bring items such as no. 2 pencils, loose-leaf notebook paper, spiral bound notebooks, pens, glue sticks, etc.  Please see Judy Harwell for more details.
