 A Word From the Pastor

I don't even know where to begin about this past weekend. I must say that I did recognize how small my thoughts and imagination are when it comes to the workings of the Holy Spirit. We were so blessed this past weekend with the visiting team members, visiting missionaries, the food preparation team, and our members who spent many hours planning, praying and preparing.

I do not have an exact total for adopting the Village in Bihar, India, but we have passed the $3700 mark. As you know this puts us $900 past our goal of $2800 to adopt one village and only $1900 away from being able to adopt 2 villages. I know some of you have not been able to give yet, and any money that continues to come in will go toward adopting a second village. This is certainly a Hallelujah moment. Praise God for allowing us to be part of a village in India hearing the Good News of Jesus Christ and having fresh drinking water, a medical clinic, Bibles, song books, literacy training and a bicycle for a church planter.

Last night was really the highlight of the weekend. The Sunday night session was set aside for people to share what God is doing in their life. Two and a half hours into the service, (which seemed like about 15 minutes), it was mentioned that we should go to Mooresville to pray over one of the churches in our association who had experienced some difficult times. If you were here this weekend, you probably knew about Jon Lindeman preaching at this church Sunday morning. God really used Jon and the people of the church were so grateful to have him.

We finally pulled out of Front Street parking lot about 9:30. When we arrived at the church, some of their members had found out we were coming and they met us there. They opened the church for us to come inside and pray. Once we entered the sanctuary, the members of Front Street stretched around the room, holding hands and we began to sing and  pray. As I looked around the room, I saw 75 people from Front Street who were praying for this church and this part of the family of God. There was unity as we laid hands on the members of the church and asked God to pour out His Spirit. How awesome when a church family really begins to see that we are not in competition with other churches, but we are called to strengthen and encourage one another. We are to hold each other up, pray for one another and work together to make known our precious Savior.

This coming Sunday, we will be partaking of the Lord's Supper. We will also take the morning worship time to present where we believe God is leading our church in the coming year. Sunday night in our Family Business Meeting, we will vote on the vision proposal, the unified budget, deacon nominations and the nominating committee report. These are exciting days at Front Street. We pray for the power of God to fill us as we are on Mission with Him!

Pastor Tim

 Children in Action

Christmas in August

During the month of August, our Children in Action groups will be involved in Christmas in August.   Many have participated with this mission project in the past and are aware of the impact it has had on missionaries' lives.    This year, both CIA groups (1-3) and (4-6) will join efforts to collect items for missionary Oscar Sanchez.  Oscar is a missionary in Fresno, CA.  The following items will be collected during the entire month of August.  Please drop off your items at any of the "Christmas" collection boxes around the church.

We look forward to seeing what God will do through this opportunity to serve!

The SYBA churches will be ministering to the carnival workers by providing snacks, meals, haircuts, and attending to medical/dental and clothing needs. Although we witness as their needs are being met, we have found that the most productive time for witnessing is from 11:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m., when the carnival workers are off. We need for you and your church to provide meals during the day and especially ask men to volunteer to minister and witness during the 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. time period. To volunteer or to make a donation, please call Sandy Harrison at 704-873-4372 ext. 6 or Mary Jane Hoover at 704-873-4372 ext. 3.
