 A Word From the Pastor

This new church year is off to a great start. It is wonderful to see so many adults, youth and children involved in various studies and ministries. This is only possible because of the many committed volunteers who faithfully prepare each week to provide quality opportunities for connecting, growing, serving and sharing. Thank you  to everyone who gives sacrificially each week to make Christ known.

Out text this Sunday will cover John 1:35-51. In this passage, we will see Jesus call His first disciples. This will be a key passage for us because as Christians, we are the disciples of Christ. It is interesting what we will find about following Christ in this very first passage.  In calling His first disciples, Christ gave them two commands. I encourage you to take some time this week and read through this passage and find those two commands. As you examine these commands, take time to evaluate your own walk to see if you are following what Christ desires of you.

Hungering for Christ,
Pastor Tim

Sign up NOW for upcoming mission trips.

Several mission trips are coming up in the next few months.  If you are interested in being a part of any of these, please contact Kenny Lamm this week.  The international trips need many months of preparation time, so we need to know your intentions as soon as possible.  Please contact Kenny about any of these trips this week (klamm@frontstreet.org).

Ministry with Graffiti Church in New York City - Our team will travel and work with a team from West Charleston Baptist Church to provide ministry to the inner city of New York City.  To learn more about Graffiti Church's ministry, view their website.   Dates: November 22-29, 2008  (Thanksgiving Week)   Cost:  Approximately $300

Medical Mission Trip to Honduras - The team, composed of 1-2 physicians, 3-5 nurses, a pharmacist, two interpreters, and a few support personnel, will provide a medical clinic to a very needy area of Honduras.  Group may not exceed 12 people.  Dates: February 25 - March 5, 2009    Cost: approximately $1,200 - 1,500

Youth Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic - Youth camps, puppet shows, mime presentations, street evangelism, orphanage work, public school assemblies, feeding the hungry, painting churches, sports evangelism, tract distribution, and youth rallies are a few of the ministries our youth group can do.  Score International will host the trip. This trip is for youth who are currently in the 9th-12th grades.  Dates: June 13-20, 2009    Cost: approximately $1,000 - 1,200 (depending upon airfare)

Hurricane Ike Relief

NC Baptist Men have a huge disaster relief ministry in place in Texas.  Our Hispanic congregation is also seeking to aid pastor and missionary families in Cuba who have lost their homes and church buildings in the disaster.  If you would like to make a financial contribution to either of these relief efforts, you may make a contribution at the church marked either Texas Relief or Cuba Relief and we will send the monies to the appropriate relief agency.  You may also learn more about these efforts and give online with a debit or credit card at:
http://fsmissions.info/DonationDisaster.html.  Thank you for caring.
