 A Word From the Pastor

Our Family Business Meeting scheduled for October 15, will be postponed until Sunday, October 26th at 4:00 pm. The reason for moving the meeting is due to the special classes that are being offered on Wednesday nights. This will also affect our meetings in January and April. Those meetings will also be held on the fourth Sunday of the month at 4:00. The Business meetings for the 2008-2009 church year will be held on the following Sundays: October 26, January 25, April 26 and August 16.

This coming Sunday we will examine the first recorded miracle of Jesus found in John 2:1-11. I hope that you will take some time to examine this passage this week.  As you read through this passage, think about some of the following questions. First, why would Mary think that Jesus could do this miracle? As we are told in verse 11, this is the beginning of His miracles. Second, why do you think Mary wanted Jesus to perform this miracle? Third, do you think there is any significance in the water pots Jesus used to perform the miracle? Finally, what was the purpose of this miracle?

Throughout the week, I want to encourage you to go back through the principles we studied this past Sunday about being a disciple of Christ. Our three points were: 1) A disciple of Christ spends time in the presence of Christ; 2) A disciple of Christ shares the Good News of Christ; and 3) A disciple of Christ follows the will of Christ. Does this sum up who you are as a disciple of Christ? May God mold and shape all of us into His image!

Praying for you this week!

Pastor Tim

Hurricane Ike Relief

NC Baptist Men have a huge disaster relief ministry in place in Texas.  Our Hispanic congregation is also seeking to aid pastor and missionary families in Cuba who have lost their homes and church buildings in the disaster.  If you would like to make a financial contribution to either of these relief efforts, you may make a contribution at the church marked either Texas Relief or Cuba Relief and we will send the monies to the appropriate relief agency.  You may also learn more about these efforts and give online with a debit or credit card at:
http://fsmissions.info/DonationDisaster.html.  Thank you for caring.
