A Word From the Pastor

This Coming Sunday

This coming Sunday is our special Sunday for collecting our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Over the last few weeks, I hope you have been able to see the importance of this offering.  What an awesome way for us to be able to support those who have sacrificed and given so much to make Christ known throughout the nations.

Our sermon this Sunday is entitled The Gift Was Wrapped. Once you select a gift at Christmas time, you almost always wrap the gift in beautiful paper. In this unique sermon, we will discover how the Promised Gift of God was wrapped in God's protection. It is awesome to see how God protected His Promised Seed for thousands of years to ensure salvation for the world. I would like to challenge you this week to do a personal study to discover how many times Satan sought to destroy the seed of Christ. Just for starters, you can trace it back to Cain and Able.

We know that God preserved His Promised Seed even in spite of man's sinfulness and the assaults of Satan. What a testimony to God's love, protection and sovereignty. This is the same God who has wrapped our salvation in His protection and will secure it until we see Him face to face!

To Him be all honor, glory and majesty!

Pastor Tim
 Christmas Caroling!

In lieu of the regular missions and music time for children in grades K-6 on December 17, we will all be going Christmas caroling to some of our Saints at Home and Nursing homes.

All children should meet on the second floor of the Educational Building by 6:20.  We will be riding the bus and will leave the church at 6:30 pm so we will have plenty of time to visit as many folks as possible.  We will return by 7:45 pm.

PARENTS:  You must complete a permission/medical release form BEFORE your child will be able to go.  These are being given out in CiA.  If you need a copy, please see Karen Shea.  A notary will be available at the church this Wednesday and next Wednesday so PLEASE WAIT and sign the form in front of the Notary.

 Attention Church Family!

Positions are still available...

Our Operation Christmas Child Trip is this coming Friday, December 12!  We still have a place for You!  Please join us!  We will meet here at the church at 1:30 p.m. to leave for the
Processing Center in Boone.

Missions Giving and Opportunities

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering Walk this Sunday!

How has the shrinking dollar impacted missions?

Over the past year the U.S. dollar has lost as much as 15 percent of its value in the world marketplace. That means Southern Baptists must give $1.15 to the Lottie Moon offering in 2008 in order to match the buying power of every dollar given in 2007. Though 15 cents may not sound like much, in the scope of the International Mission Board's $300 million budget, those extra pennies add up to $45 million.
Why does this matter? Because God continues to call record numbers of Southern Baptist missionaries to reach the lost. This year we anticipate sending out more than 900 new missionary personnel. They are faithfully responding to God's call to carry the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Will we be faithful to send and support them?

What is the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering?

Southern Baptist churches collect the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for the sole purpose of supporting international missions. Every penny of the offering goes to the International Mission Board's overseas budget, thus supporting our missionaries and their work.

Operation Christmas Child

Millions of lives will be touched by the shoe box gifts collected this year. Each precious gift is carefully inspected and prepared for overseas shipment. Our church has reserved 36 places to work at the Operation Christmas Child Processing Center in Boone, NC on Friday, December 12 from 4-9 pm.  Anyone 13 years old and older can participate.  This would make a great family missions project.  Note that people might need to leave work or school early that day since we will have to leave Statesville as early as 2:00.  Please see Kenny Lamm or email klamm@frontstreet.org if you would like to participate.

News and Announcements

Do you have news and announcements for Sunday Morning? If so, please send them to: news@frontstreet.org or call the church office by Thursday morning of that week. We will insert your announcement into our slide show presentation before the service begins. Please be sure to include any clipart or photos.
