A Word From the Pastor

This coming Sunday we will look into a passage that many of us learned as kids. John 6 begins with the story of Jesus feeding the 5000. In your study and quiet time this week, I want to ask you to read through the story several times, but I want you to focus in on verses 5-6. Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?" But He said this to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.

God is never at a lost for what to do next. Our situations never catch Him off guard. Unfortunately, He is many times the last place that we seek for help or answers. Just as Jesus tested Philip, He tests us, giving us the opportunity to be strengthened in our faith. This week in your quiet time, I would like to ask you to consider three questions. First, where are you being tested?  Second, how is God seeking to strengthen your faith in Him?  Finally, are there any areas in my life that I am not trusting Christ?

Our goal in life is to become more like Christ. The refining process at times can seem unbearable, but the outcome is worth everything we endure. I pray that as individuals and a family that we would be strengthened in our faith and become more like Christ.

Looking forward to Sunday!

Medical Missions Trip to Honduras

Our church Is sending eleven people to Honduras in February to run a week-long medical clinic at a Baptist church in Choluteca, helping them to reach their community.  The physical and spiritual needs are great in Honduras.  We are working with the Honduras Baptist Convention in partnership with the NC Baptist Men.  We have one doctor, five nurses, a pharmacist, a pharmacy technician, an interpreter, and two additional workers participating in this mission.  We will be hiring a Honduran physician to work with us who will also help coordinate our efforts with the Honduran healthcare system.  Additionally, we will be hiring two Honduran interpreters to help us with communication in the work of the clinic.

Each participant has been asked to cover their expenses with personal funds and possibly by raising support through friends and family.  Each person is also contributing to additional costs of the trip.

This is where you can help out.  The cost of needed medications and supplies to use in our clinic's pharmacy is over $2,500.  We also have purchased Spanish New Testaments and other literature.  In addition, there are expenses of hiring a doctor and two interpreters.  All together, the expenses of the clinic (not including the expenses of the participants) are totaling over $4,500.

If you would like to help us reach Honduras with the good news of Jesus Christ through this medical clinic, you may make a contribution to the clinic's expenses by simply marking Honduras Missions on your check made out to the church.  Or, click this link to make a donation online:  http://fsmissions.info/Donation.html

Any donation you make will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Your Honduras Medical Missions Team

 Opportunity for Giving

David and Robin Rankin are going through the process of adopting two more children from Ethiopia.  The Ethiopian government requires anyone that is adopting a child to provide some humanitarian aid for children in their country.  We have an opportunity to give items to help these children.  These are the items that have been requested:

·         Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers, sizes 1, 2 and 3.

·         Huggies Natural Care Wipes - Unscented.

For more information, please contact the Rankins.  There is a container marked "Ethiopian Aid" in the missions collection area where you may drop off your donations.

Kleenex BoxFebruary is Kleenex Collection Month for N.B. Mills School

This month, we will be collecting Kleenex for N.B. Mills School.  We will not be collecting items for Teen Challenge as previously published.  Teen Challenge has relocated outside of our area.  We do plan to continue financially supporting them at least through the remainder of this year.  However, due to their new location, we will discontinue any monthly missions collection items for them.

Any items you may bring in intended for Teen Challenge will be donated to the South Yadkin Baptist Association to help needy families.  Thank you for your faithfulness in missions!

 THANK YOU!
 Dear Church Family,

I want to thank everyone for their prayers, phone calls and visits during Danny's surgery and convalescence.  We are so fortunate to have such caring people in our lives.  Special thanks to Marvin and Ralph for coming to be with me while Danny was in surgery.

I also want to say thank you to Marvin, Sandy and Tim for their many visits with Helen while she spent more than a month in Iredell.

Thanks, too, for our Sunday School class for their care and concern - not only for Danny and Helen - but also for my sanity as I dealt with the two of them during this period!

Love to All,
