A Word From the Pastor

Trusting Christ in the Midst of the Storm

John 6:15-21

I think it is safe to say that all of us have experienced the storms of life at one point or another. In fact, there are many people in our church who are currently experiencing some very turbulent storms.  Our message Sunday deals with a literal storm that the disciples faced while they were out at sea. Our focus verse for Sunday is John 6:20 - But He said to them, "It is I; do not be afraid."  Even several miles out in the sea, Jesus came walking on the water through the storms to be with His disciples. How calming are those words, "It is I, do not be afraid."

I hope this Sunday will be an encouragement not only to those currently going through one of life's storms, but an encouragement to all of us as believers that no matter what we face in life, we can face it through Christ. Several of our members will share their story of the storms they have been walking through and the difference it has made having Christ in their life. If you know someone who has been experiencing one of life's storms, I hope you will invite them this Sunday as I believe it will be a great time of encouragement.

Prayer Room

We have completed work on a new prayer room for our church. The prayer room is located in Room 110 of the Educational Building. This is Pastor Daniel's old office. We plan on having something special this Sunday morning to dedicate this room to the Lord and set it is apart as a place to meet with God. Following the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, His followers had a special place set aside called the upper room. In Acts 1:12-14 we read that these followers gathered in the upper room and: These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication... My prayer is that this will be a special place, set apart for us to meet with God.

Looking forward to worshiping with you Sunday,

Pastor Tim

Please note that you are not required to join Front Street after attending the New Member's Class.  In fact, you will not be pressured in any way to join.  We want to encourage you to continue to seek God's will on whether He desires for you to plant your life here with us.

Medical Missions Trip to Honduras

Our church Is sending eleven people to Honduras in February to run a week-long medical clinic at a Baptist church in Choluteca, helping them to reach their community.  The physical and spiritual needs are great in Honduras.  We are working with the Honduras Baptist Convention in partnership with the NC Baptist Men.  We have one doctor, five nurses, a pharmacist, a pharmacy technician, an interpreter, and two additional workers participating in this mission.  We will be hiring a Honduran physician to work with us who will also help coordinate our efforts with the Honduran healthcare system.  Additionally, we will be hiring two Honduran interpreters to help us with communication in the work of the clinic.

Each participant has been asked to cover their expenses with personal funds and possibly by raising support through friends and family.  Each person is also contributing to additional costs of the trip.

This is where you can help out.  The cost of needed medications and supplies to use in our clinic's pharmacy is over $2,500.  We also have purchased Spanish New Testaments and other literature.  In addition, there are expenses of hiring a doctor and two interpreters.  All together, the expenses of the clinic (not including the expenses of the participants) are totaling over $4,500.

If you would like to help us reach Honduras with the good news of Jesus Christ through this medical clinic, you may make a contribution to the clinic's expenses by simply marking Honduras Missions on your check made out to the church.  Or, click this link to make a donation online:  http://fsmissions.info/Donation.html

Any donation you make will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Your Honduras Medical Missions Team

Kleenex BoxFebruary is Kleenex Collection Month for N.B. Mills School

This month, we will be collecting Kleenex for N.B. Mills School.  We will not be collecting items for Teen Challenge as previously published.  Teen Challenge has relocated outside of our area.  We do plan to continue financially supporting them at least through the remainder of this year.  However, due to their new location, we will discontinue any monthly missions collection items for them.

Any items you may bring in intended for Teen Challenge will be donated to the South Yadkin Baptist Association to help needy families.  Thank you for your faithfulness in missions!
