Hello from Asia!

Things are going really well here. We have witnessed God move in many powerful ways. We have had several great worship experiences the past couple of days. If you have internet access, you can follow our journey at http://fsasia2009.blogspot.com/. Thank you for your love, prayers and support.

I appreciate Brother Ron Harrison preaching for me while I am away. I understand that the service on Sunday went very well. We are heading out to our next event, so I leave you with my love and prayers. We will update again soon.

I love you and appreciate you!

News...

Celebrate Recovery Ministry News.....   Many of you are asking, "What IS Celebrate Recovery?"  The answer is simple.  In fact many of us are discussing this ministry's Mission in our current Sunday School lessons.   GRACISM Is What Celebrate Recovery is All About!

Celebrate Recovery is:

·         A safe place to share your heart

·         A refuge

·         A place of belonging and acceptance

·         A place to care for others and be cared for

·         A place where respect is given to each member

·         A place where confidentiality is highly regarded; it is a requirement for our success

·         A place to learn

·         A place to demonstrate Christ's love

·         A place to grow and become strong again

·         A place for progress

·         A safe place where you can take off your mask and allow others to know you

·         A place for healthy challenges and healthy risks

·         A possible turning point in your life

Why Celebrate Recovery is unique to other recovery programs:

1.       Celebrate Recovery is based on God's Word; the Bible.

2.       Celebrate Recovery emphasizes spiritual commitment to Jesus Christ.

3.       Celebrate Recovery is forward looking.

4.       Celebrate Recovery emphasizes personal responsibility.

5.       Celebrate Recovery utilizes the Biblical truth that we need each other in order to grow spiritually and emotionally.

6.       Celebrate Recovery addresses all types of hurts, habits, and hang-ups.

We are a Christ Centered Recovery Program Based on the 8 Principles in the Beatitudes to help us with our hurts, habits, and hang-ups. A hurt, habit, or hang-up is ANY thing that hinders our walk with God.The feeling of being HURT is an emotional reaction to another person's behavior or to a disturbing situation (abuse, abandonment, codependency, divorce, relationship issues, etc.). A HABIT is an addiction to someone or something (alcoholism, drugs, food, gambling, sex, shopping, smoking, etc.). HANG-UPS are negative mental attitudes that are used to cope with people or adversity (anger, depression, fear, poor self-image, unforgiveness, etc.). These life problems can be stumbling blocks or stepping stones. Healing is available through applying the principles of a Bible based recovery process to our lives.

Attention!  Church Family!

If you would like to contribute to the Youth Home Mission Week, we will have teens stand at the exits this coming Sunday, July 26.  We will use any donations we receive to purchase fruit for fruit baskets, bottled water for an evangelistic event, and other general expenses.  If you would like to purchase the bottled water, you could leave them outside Jeremy's office on Sunday.

How to Become Part of the Front Street Family

First, we would like to thank you for your interest in Front Street.  Before becoming a member, we feel that you should truly understand our heart and vision before you join our church family, and the new member's class is designed to help you have a clear understanding of your new church family.

Please note that you are not required to join Front Street after attending the New Member's Class.  In fact, you will not be pressured in any way to join.  We want to encourage you to continue to seek God's will on whether He desires for you to plant your life here with us.

The new member's class is a four week class, held during the Sunday School hour.  The next class will be held  in August.  Those dates for the adult class or for the children's class are August 9, 16, 23 and 30.  To sign up for the adult class (which includes youth), or to sign your child up for the children's class, please contact the church office at (704) 872-7623 or email Pastor Tim at tim@frontstreet.org.

As people are led to accept Christ as Savior and Lord in the Toy Store and each week in the Clothes Closet and Food Pantry, we have become aware that it is time to begin a new ministry.  This ministry is to teach those who accept Christ through a four-week time of discipleship.  They will learn how to begin to walk with Jesus!  Rev. Bill Mason and Carol Froehlich will be the four-week session leaders.

The time is:

6:30 - 8:00 p.m. every Monday night beginning July 27th

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

Volunteers are needed to teach and lead a VBS-like time

with children as the parents are learning.

Volunteer today by contacting Mary Jane Hoover

at (704) 873-4372 ext. 3 or mhoover@sybaptist.org.

S.Y.B.A. Children's Ministry Summer Camps

July 30th

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Baptist Center

Children's Ministry Camps are open to any child preschool through 5th grade who are members or attend one of our S.Y.B.A. churches. Each camp will be hosted by one of our youth groups and will feature different themes and Bible stories, so the children are welcome to attend more than one camp. We also will have music, crafts, refreshments, and games. Campers are encouraged to be involved with the Baptist Center Food Pantry by bringing a donation of food, toiletry item or school supply.

Contact Mary Jane Hoover for more details or to register your child. mhoover@sybaptist.org or 704-873-4372 ext. 3.
