A Word From the Pastor

Total Surrender

This past Sunday we took some time to explore what Christ expects from those who follow Him. Have you noticed how Christ always set the bar high? He never lowered His standards so that more people would follow Him. In fact, most times it seemed that He was trying to weed out the ones who were not fully committed to Him. There is nothing in the world that compares to Jesus Christ. There is no greater treasure than Almighty God. I pray that we will take time (not just this week, but every day) to focus on the greatest of God. Will join me in asking God to reveal Himself to us? I pray that as we see God for who He truly is, that we will surrender our lives each and every day.

Our passage this Sunday is John 12:27-36. Please read through this passage in your quiet time this week, praying and asking God to do something powerful Sunday morning through His Word.

Praying!

Pastor Tim

Pray for our Seniors...

this week as they minister to the people of Charleston, W. Virginia.
They are scheduled to return to Statesville on Thursday this week.

The Pastoral Staff would like to thank our church family for the gifts, cards, and words of encouragement during Clergy Appreciation Month.  We are honored to serve you and our Lord at Front Street.  We all feel very blessed to be a part of this church family.  Thank you for your continuous
prayers as we seek to follow God's leadership and will for our church.

Tim, Kenny, Jeremy, Marvin, and Karen

Young at Heart!

There will be no November meeting of the Young at Heart.  Instead, we will have a combined November / December meeting on December 1, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.  The program will be presented by the Senior Serenaders, directed by Mrs. Gerri White, and our annual Christmas luncheon will be catered by Boxcar Grille at the cost of $2.25 per plate.  See you there!
Join the Choir!

Now is a great time to join the choir!  We are beginning to work on Christmas music and we have a  missions trip and concert coming up in the Spring.  Rehearsals are Wednesdays 6:30-7:45.  For more information, please contact Kenny Lamm.

Experience the real meaning of Christmas!

Volunteer in the SYBA TOY STORE!

If you have never worked a two-hour shift in the SYBA Toy Store, you have missed a blessing! Please consider volunteering this year! Our FSBC family has the chance to work together in the Toy Store on Saturday, December 12. Can you give two hours on this Saturday? Can you give two hours so that the parents shopping will have the chance to sit down with a Christian, face-to-face and knee-to-knee, to hear the saving power of Jesus?

BELOW is a link that shows the two hour shifts on Saturday, December 12. Scroll all the way to the bottom to see December 12. There are four jobs you could sign up for:

1. Shopper's Aide -- this is the person that walks with the parents as they shop and keeps track of what they are "spending."

2. Cashier -- checks out the parents.

3. Greeter -- say hello to the parents as they arrive.

4. Runner -- take parents from the holding room up to the shopping area and then carries their bags of toys to the holding room once they are finished so they can go to meet with a counselor.

The reason our church has stepped up for Saturday, December 12 is that it is the hardest day to staff, especially the last two shifts. What a great time of fellowship and joy. What a great ministry for us! We promise you that after you shift is over, you will not want to leave!

PLEASE take a look at this link, http://sybaptist.org/ToyStoreVolunteer.html.  You can fill out the web form or you can email or call Michelle Lourcey (mlourcey@bellsouth.net or 704 871 1396) directly with the times you want to volunteer, and Michelle will take care of the rest. No children or youth for this; only adults. Please pray and see if you can give this gift of time. Everyone will need to sign up in order to volunteer!

If December 12 does not work for you, please see the link for other dates and times!

Medical/Construction/Evangelism Missions Trip to Costa Rica - Update

The Costa Rica missions trip is still open for additional people.  Due to the current volatility of airline fares, please talk with Kenny to determine the cost of the trip.  Dates are February 20-27, 2010.

In the meantime, if you do not have a passport, go ahead and begin your application process.  For this and other resources, go to our missions website resource area:  http://fsmissions.info/Resources.html

Throughout the month of November, we will be collecting food for the Food Pantry  (especially canned meats).  Please drop off your donations in the Global Missions Collection site in the Educational Building.

Thank you for your commitment to missions!

 Reservations Needed!

Our annual Thanksgiving Dinner and Communion Service will be held on Wednesday evening, November 18 at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. respectively.  This is the week prior to Thanksgiving week.  Reservations are required for the meal.  The cost is $5.00 for adults, $4.00 for senior adults, and $4.00 for children under 12. (Plus a non-perishable food item for the Food Pantry at the Baptist Center.)  Please sign-up by Sunday, November 15.  Sign-up sheets are located on the bulletin boards near the church office.   The Thanksgiving and Communion Service begins at 7:00 p.m.

Fall Fun Fest

A HUGE thanks to many of you who participated in the Fall Fun Fest by donating candy, giving out candy, setting up, cleaning up, serving food & drinks, etc.  We had 228 children come through our indoor trunk-or-treat. We thought the rain might be a deterrent, but because it was indoors, we had the opportunity to recognize visitors and spend time talking with them.  We also were able to give out many fliers with our church information, Celebrate Recovery fliers, Angel Food fliers, and tracts.  We will follow up with visitors who indicated they were unchurched with visits.  PLEASE join our visitation team on Tuesday nights at 6:00!

Karen
                                         S.Y.B.A. Toy Store

Our SYBA TOY STORE is now collecting money and toys for this year's Toy Store that will run the first two weeks of December. PLEASE pray what God would have you to give to this amazing ministry that presents the plan of salvation to every adult who comes to shop. Just think....the parents/caregivers of over 1200 children will hear the salvation plan during those two weeks of December and then they will be plugged into a local church for discipleship. This is our TOY STORE, our ministry, our Jerusalem. Donating money to this ministry is more effective because of the awesome shopping deals the Association has with local stores. PLEASE bring your toys or money this week. Mark your giving envelopes for the TOY STORE. To learn even more, visit, www.sybaptist.org.

How to Become Part of the Front Street Family

First, we would like to thank you for your interest in Front Street.  Before becoming a member, we feel that you should truly understand our heart and vision before you join our church family, and the new member's class is designed to help you have a clear understanding of your new church family.

Please note that you are not required to join Front Street after attending the New Member's Class.  In fact, you will not be pressured in any way to join.  We want to encourage you to continue to seek God's will on whether He desires for you to plant your life here with us.

The new member's class is a four week class, held during the Sunday School hour.  The next class will be held  in January.  Those dates for the adult class or for the children's class are January 10, 17, 24 and 31.  To sign up for the adult class (which includes youth), or to sign your child up for the children's class, please contact the church office at (704) 872-7623 or email Pastor Tim at tim@frontstreet.org.

THANK YOU:
Hey,

We at Bonfire wanted to "thank you" so very much for supplying a bus for these kids to attend the School Release Program.  You truly were a blessing and the bus served us well!

We also wanted you to know we saw over 322 decisions made to accept Jesus Christ.  Wow - an awesome week!

We at Bonfire consider you a partner in ministry for all your prayers and support.

God will bless...Amen.  This is good ground to sow into and you sowed good seed!  Get ready for your harvest!!

We love you and ask that you continue to keep Bonfire Crusades in your prayers and we will as well keep you in ours.

You are a blessing.

Thank you,
Bonfire Crusades
