A Word From the Pastor

Extravagant Worshipers and Extreme Followers

This past Sunday we talked about the two things God desires all of us to be which is "Extravagant Worshipers" and "Extreme Followers." Christ certainly provided us with the greatest example of making the glory of God our highest priority and totally surrendering to His will. When worship is your highest priority and you are surrendered to the will of God, you become someone who is willing to follow no matter the cost. May we all become a church full of extravagant worshipers and extreme followers!

Sunday, we will cover John 12:35-50. The one verse that jumps off the page at me is verse 43 which says: "for they loved the praise of men, more than they loved the praise of God." What a horrific indictment of the leaders in Israel. Could the same be said of us? I hope you will read through this passage giving great attention to verse 43.

Thanksgiving Service

This Wednesday night we will have a special Thanksgiving Communion Service. After our time of fellowship around the table, we will gather to give thanks to the Father for His indescribable gift of Jesus Christ. There is no God like our God! He is incredibly awesome and deserves all of our praise. I hope you will join us for the celebration!

Love you guys!

Pastor Tim

Young at Heart!

There will be no November meeting of the Young at Heart.  Instead, we will have a combined November / December meeting on December 1, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.  The program will be presented by the Senior Serenaders, directed by Mrs. Gerri White, and our annual Christmas luncheon will be catered by Boxcar Grille at the cost of $2.25 per plate.  See you there!
Join the Choir!

Now is a great time to join the choir!  We are beginning to work on Christmas music and we have a  missions trip and concert coming up in the Spring.  Rehearsals are Wednesdays 6:30-7:45.  For more information, please contact Kenny Lamm.

Experience the real meaning of Christmas!

Volunteer in the SYBA TOY STORE!

Thank you for volunteering for the Toy Store!  December 12 is now full but there is a great need for Dec. 7, 8, 10, and 11.   PLEASE take a look at this link, http://sybaptist.org/ToyStoreVolunteer.html.  You can fill out the web form directly with the times you want to volunteer and someone from SYBA will confirm with you!  No children or youth for this; only adults. Please pray and see if you can give this gift of time. Everyone will need to sign up in order to volunteer!

Medical/Construction/Evangelism Missions Trip to Costa Rica - Update

The Costa Rica missions trip is still open for additional people.  Due to the current volatility of airline fares, please talk with Kenny to determine the cost of the trip.  Dates are February 20-27, 2010.

In the meantime, if you do not have a passport, go ahead and begin your application process.  For this and other resources, go to our missions website resource area:  http://fsmissions.info/Resources.html

Thank you for your commitment to missions!

 Annual Thanksgiving Dinner and
Communion Service

This Wednesday evening, November 18
at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. respectively

Do not forget to bring a non-perishable food item for the Food Pantry at the Baptist Center!
                                         S.Y.B.A. Toy Store

Our SYBA TOY STORE is now collecting money and toys for this year's Toy Store that will run the first two weeks of December. PLEASE pray what God would have you to give to this amazing ministry that presents the plan of salvation to every adult who comes to shop. Just think....the parents/caregivers of over 1200 children will hear the salvation plan during those two weeks of December and then they will be plugged into a local church for discipleship. This is our TOY STORE, our ministry, our Jerusalem. Donating money to this ministry is more effective because of the awesome shopping deals the Association has with local stores. PLEASE bring your toys or money this week. Mark your giving envelopes for the TOY STORE. To learn even more, visit, www.sybaptist.org.

Celebrate Recovery News...

Thank you to Ronnie Harmon for a heartfelt testimony on God's deliverance from sin.  God's presence is strong in Ronnie and he reminds us to always rely on God although the struggles of the world may continue even after we are saved.    We give God praise that God is providing Ronnie  strength to serve others through the sharing of  his powerful testimony.   Thank you for your service to our Lord, Ronnie!    This is just one of the wonderful miracles we have to celebrate in the church as we approach the Thanksgiving season.

This Monday evening our Front Street Celebrate Recovery ministry will have a Thanksgiving Dinner together.   Dan will be sharing a lesson on Gratitude.   We could use your help if anyone would be willing to help us with our meal.   We need volunteers to provide a cooked ham and/or turkey and desserts.   SUNDAY SCHOOLS - Would any of you help us please?  Call Dan or Brenda at 704.779.7094 if you would be willing to help provide food or help serve.  Many of the people that attend Celebrate Recovery cannot afford a Thanksgiving meal so this will be their only celebration meal.   Some of our attendees are homeless as well.

Our band, Kindred Spirits, will provide live music for us.  Those of you that participated with Brent Thompson's testimony a few months ago will remember how much we enjoyed this band and the strong presence of the Holy Spirit inspired through their music.   Please come and join us as we give Thanks to our Father for all his Blessings.  We would Love to have you!

If you or your Sunday School class  cannot help us with a Thanksgiving Meal, we will be planning a Christmas Meal for our Celebrate Recovery Families also on Monday, December 21.   If you would volunteer to help provide the Christmas meal, please contact us.

Join us any Monday evening beginning at 6:30.   We love you, Church Family and need your prayers for our continued ministry growth!

In Christ's Love,

   Dan & Brenda Thompson

How to Become Part of the Front Street Family

First, we would like to thank you for your interest in Front Street.  Before becoming a member, we feel that you should truly understand our heart and vision before you join our church family, and the new member's class is designed to help you have a clear understanding of your new church family.

Please note that you are not required to join Front Street after attending the New Member's Class.  In fact, you will not be pressured in any way to join.  We want to encourage you to continue to seek God's will on whether He desires for you to plant your life here with us.

The new member's class is a four week class, held during the Sunday School hour.  The next class will be held  in January.  Those dates for the adult class or for the children's class are January 10, 17, 24 and 31.  To sign up for the adult class (which includes youth), or to sign your child up for the children's class, please contact the church office at (704) 872-7623 or email Pastor Tim at tim@frontstreet.org.
