A Word From the Pastor

 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering

More than 1.5 billion people are missing out on the opportunity to hear the Gospel. They are living in pockets of lostness, hidden behind cultural, physical, political and language barriers to a Gospel witness. God is calling our church and each of us individually to be on mission with Him to break down these barriers. We all can do something, whether it be praying, going or giving. During this Lottie Moon Christmas Offering season, let's not let insufficient giving to support our missionaries be one of the barriers!

Pockets of Lostness:  Fast Facts

Many of the world's people missing from God's family live in concentrated pockets of lostness. They number more than 1.5 billion people, and not only are they missing, they are missing the opportunity to even hear the Gospel. Of course, the total number of lost people in the world is much greater - but those living in pockets of lostness are hidden behind barriers that shield them from a Christian witness. The pockets we are focusing on in 2009 comprise:

  •  About 40 nations and 700 languages
  •  34 percent Muslim
  •  32 percent Hindu
  •  13.5 percent animist
  •  6 percent Buddhist
  •  6 percent unknown religion
  •  4 percent nonreligious/other

Although there is a small percentage of Christian, the rest are a mix of ancestor worshipper, shamanist, Jewish, Taoist and Sikhist. About 80 unreached people groups still have no contact with the outside world.

Please pray about your role this year in the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.  The national goal is $175 million, and our church's goal is $17,000.  Please give sacrificially.

Pastor Tim

Young at Heart!

There will be no November meeting of the Young at Heart.  Instead, we will have a combined November / December meeting on December 1, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.  The program will be presented by the Senior Serenaders, directed by Mrs. Gerri White, and our annual Christmas luncheon will be catered by Boxcar Grille at the cost of $2.25 per plate.  See you there!
Join the Choir!

Now is a great time to join the choir!  We are beginning to work on Christmas music and we have a  missions trip and concert coming up in the Spring.  Rehearsals are Wednesdays 6:30-7:45.  For more information, please contact Kenny Lamm.

Experience the real meaning of Christmas!

Volunteer in the SYBA TOY STORE!

Thank you for volunteering for the Toy Store!  December 12 is now full but there is a great need for Dec. 7, 8, 10, and 11.   PLEASE take a look at this link, http://sybaptist.org/ToyStoreVolunteer.html.  You can fill out the web form directly with the times you want to volunteer and someone from SYBA will confirm with you!  No children or youth for this; only adults. Please pray and see if you can give this gift of time. Everyone will need to sign up in order to volunteer!

Medical/Construction/Evangelism Missions Trip to Costa Rica - Update

The Costa Rica missions trip is still open for additional people.  Due to the current volatility of airline fares, please talk with Kenny to determine the cost of the trip.  Dates are February 20-27, 2010.

In the meantime, if you do not have a passport, go ahead and begin your application process.  For this and other resources, go to our missions website resource area:  http://fsmissions.info/Resources.html

How to Become Part of the Front Street Family

First, we would like to thank you for your interest in Front Street.  Before becoming a member, we feel that you should truly understand our heart and vision before you join our church family, and the new member's class is designed to help you have a clear understanding of your new church family.

Please note that you are not required to join Front Street after attending the New Member's Class.  In fact, you will not be pressured in any way to join.  We want to encourage you to continue to seek God's will on whether He desires for you to plant your life here with us.

The new member's class is a four week class, held during the Sunday School hour.  The next class will be held  in January.  Those dates for the adult class or for the children's class are January 10, 17, 24 and 31.  To sign up for the adult class (which includes youth), or to sign your child up for the children's class, please contact the church office at (704) 872-7623 or email Pastor Tim at tim@frontstreet.org.
