A Word From the Pastor

Special Guest Gary Lewis this Sunday

Brother Gary Lewis is a great friend of Front Street Baptist Church. Gary and his wife, Lisa, were members of Front Street for a number of years before God called them to work with Gideons International full-time. The Sunday we will be very blessed to have brother Gary as our special speaker. Please read the article below to help understand the significance of your support for the Gideon Ministry.

The Gideons International started distributing the Word of God in 1908. Today, they have more than 280,000 members-and an untold number of supporters-in more than 185 countries across the globe. These dedicated individuals give their time and money to make it possible for others to learn about the love of God by giving them access to His Word. In fact, they have placed or distributed more than 1.5 billion Scriptures around the world including 75.9 million Scriptures that were distributed this past year.

This past Sunday we talked about how we could live lives of significance. Two of the things that we talked about were giving and praying. This Sunday we will have an opportunity to do both of those things. By giving to Gideons International, you can have confidence that your financial support will change lives, and the need for God's Word is greater than ever:

  • 53% of the world's population lives on less than $2 (U.S. dollars) per day. For them, purchasing a copy of the Scriptures is utterly impossible.
  • There are 1.2 billion young people between the ages of 10 and 19 around the world, and most of them will never own a New Testament unless one is given to them.
  • There are more than nine million people in prisons around the world. A gift of Scripture may be the only way many of these prisoners will learn that God loves them and that they can be forgiven.

One of the best ways you can help the Gideons reach the world with the Word of God is to pray for their ministry. More specifically, please pray that:

  • Each and every Scripture will touch the life or lives God intends to change.
  • That many individuals and families will be saved through reading Gideon-placed Scriptures.
  • More locations, communities and countries allow Scripture distributions.
  • There will be steady flow of funds to cover the printing and shipping of Scriptures around the world.
  • Members will travel safely and not be prevented from doing their work.

See you this Sunday!

Pastor Tim

Sending Christmas cards to other
 church members this year?
We can help!

Beginning Sunday, December 6, you can place your Christmas cards in the collection boxes located throughout the church.  Instead of paying postage, you can make a donation to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering.  There will  be a chest designated for Lottie Moon where you can place your donations for the delivery of your cards. Children in the T&T Awana club will make deliveries on Sunday, December 20.

PLEASE have your cards in the collection boxes by Wednesday, December 16 and we will deliver them for you!

Merry Christmas!

How to Become Part of the Front Street Family

First, we would like to thank you for your interest in Front Street.  Before becoming a member, we feel that you should truly understand our heart and vision before you join our church family, and the new member's class is designed to help you have a clear understanding of your new church family.

Please note that you are not required to join Front Street after attending the New Member's Class.  In fact, you will not be pressured in any way to join.  We want to encourage you to continue to seek God's will on whether He desires for you to plant your life here with us.

The new member's class is a four week class, held during the Sunday School hour.  The next class will be held  in January.  Those dates for the adult class or for the children's class are January 10, 17, 24 and 31.  To sign up for the adult class (which includes youth), or to sign your child up for the children's class, please contact the church office at (704) 872-7623 or email Pastor Tim at tim@frontstreet.org.

Celebrate Recovery News...

Last week we celebrated Thanksgiving. We had an excellent meal and had several people from the church volunteer to help us. What a blessing that was! Kindred Spirit provided the music, and we enjoyed a lesson on Gratitude. Last night we had a short testimony, followed up by a lesson on Spiritual Inventory. Our numbers are growing as word spreads of this ministry. Teenagers are now attending as this is a spiritual alternative to other recovery programs. Please plan to attend soon to discover how this ministry is working in your church, and what areas you may serve in. God bless you all!!   Dan & Brenda
