A Word From the Pastor

Wednesday Nights This Spring

We have two goals for what we will be doing on Wednesday nights this spring.

Goal #1 - We hope to encourage and equip believers to confidently approach God in prayer.

Goal #2 - To corporately seek God's face that we may determine who He has called us to be and how we live that out as a church.

Wednesday night will be a mixture of Bible study and prayer. We will begin the study this week by studying Philippians 4:6-7. Specifically, we will focus on the command, be anxious for nothing.

I am really excited about what I see God doing at Front Street. Prayer is foundational to all that God wants to do in our lives and in the life of our church. This study will take place in the sanctuary beginning at 6:30 and is open to the entire church body.

John 14:1-14

This coming Sunday we will cover what is probably one of the most familiar passages of Scripture. This is a scripture that is often read at funerals because it speaks of our future hope in glory. John 14:6 is a verse that separates Christianity from all other religions. In this verse Jesus makes the exclusive claim to be the only way to the Father. I hope you will take some time this week to study through this passage while praying for our time together next Sunday.

Sunday Night Small Groups

Beginning Sunday, January 31, 2010

5:30 - 7:15 p.m.

Book of Jonah  -  Beginning January 3
Led by Pastor Marvin

We will continue in our study of Jonah and will review earlier verses. Just as Jonah went into the depths, so the class will be going as deep into the Word as they can. Anyone wishing to participate is welcome to do so even if they were not in the previous class.

Faith Evangelism
Led by Pastor Tim

Faith Evangelism is a 12 week discipleship process that teaches Christians a clear, simple approach for sharing the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. The FAITH outline gives believers a versatile, biblical tool for demonstrating God's love for all people and for explaining why each person needs to turn from sin and accept the salvation of His Son, Jesus Christ. FAITH also teaches believers how to discuss spiritual matters with lost people in a natural way, share the difference Jesus has made in their lives, and lead others into a personal relationship with Him. We will spend the first part of our time together going over the material, and the last half will be spent making visits. It would be awesome if we could have representatives from many different Sunday School classes as FAITH encourages people to try a class where they will GROW with others.

Financial Peace University
Led by Sandra Oliver and Dionne Stutts

This life-changing program teaches you to achieve your financial goals by eliminating debt, saving for the future and giving like never before. You will be challenged and motivated to make a plan for your money and change your family tree forever.

Financial Peace University (FPU) consists of a 13-week video curriculum taught by financial expert Dave Ramsey-that incorporates small group discussions to encourage accountability and discipleship. Financial Peace University is highly entertaining for everyone, with a unique combination of humor, informative financial advice and biblical messages.

FPU will meet in the Jabez Sunday School classroom. We will begin each evening promptly at 5:30 and end by 7:15. The cost - per couple is $ 85.00. Please do not let the cost keep you from going through the class. If you cannot pay at the beginning of the class, you can delay payment until the end, or until you are able to implement some of the principles and are in a better financial position. If you are concerned about the cost, please see Sandra Oliver orDionne Stutts.

More than one million families have already had their lives changed by attending FPU.  We hope to see you there!

A Study of David - Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed (ladies)
From the Deeper Still Event - Priscilla Shirer/Beth Moore/Kay Arthur
Led by Bobbie James

Taped at the Deeper Still event, three women explored their lives and the life of David. You'll laugh with them, cry with them, and learn to love God with them. Each segment focuses on the life of David at a different stage of his life:  as a young man (by Priscilla Shirer), as a middle-aged man (by Beth Moore), and as a man facing the final third of his life (by Kay Arthur).  The workbook provides interactive, in-depth Bible study. This is an outstanding look at the life of King David from three perspectives.

How to Become Part of the Front Street Family

First, we would like to thank you for your interest in Front Street.  Before becoming a member, we feel that you should truly understand our heart and vision before you join our church family, and the new member's class is designed to help you have a clear understanding of your new church family.

Please note that you are not required to join Front Street after attending the New Member's Class.  In fact, you will not be pressured in any way to join.  We want to encourage you to continue to seek God's will on whether He desires for you to plant your life here with us.

The new member's class is a four week class, held during the Sunday School hour.  The next class will be held  in February.  Those dates for the adult class or for the children's class are February 7, 14, 21 and 28.  To sign up for the adult class (which includes youth), or to sign your child up for the children's class, please contact the church office at (704) 872-7623 or email Pastor Tim at tim@frontstreet.org.

Celebrate Recovery at Front Street continues to grow and be Blessed by God!  To God be the Glory for what He is Doing at Front Street Baptist!     We are averaging 36 people per meeting now.    We  had three professions of faith at CR (2 men and 1 lady) in 2009.   We've had a baptism in our church as a result of the love at CR.   We have had two Sunday School classes offer to help us with food, Thank you Branches Sunday School and New Life Sunday SchoolWhere are the rest of you?  We need you.  Even if you are a small class you can help us by just attending any Monday night at 6:30 and share God's love.

People in CR need to hear that God is Alive!   They need to have us, God's people, show them the love of Christ.  No doubt many of us did not always experience the truth and love of Jesus Christ until someone showed us how to experience it.    Someone showed us God's love and it's your turn to help others; others that are in desperate need.    Times are tough.  People are experiencing

o        job losses,

o        depression,

o        dysfunctional family situations,

o        a society that has regard for no one but ME,

o        a world that is wrongly geared toward selfishness/pride/worldly wealth.

Did you make a New Years resolution to be more engaged with God?   Do want to let God teach you more, minister to you more?   Celebrate Recovery is the perfect place to start!    You don't need special training, just a heart for the downtrodden and a love for Jesus Christ.     Be sure to join us any Monday Night at 6:30 for a meal, fun and fellowship.  We praise God and Support each other.   If you have any questions, please call Dan or Brenda Thompson at 704 779-7094.  You'll be Glad you did!

God's Blessings to you all Church Family.  We love you and pray for each of you.

Dan & Brenda
