A Word From the Pastor

I am so thankful for the presence of God we have experienced in worship over the last several weeks. I am also thankful for how our church has risen to the occasion of meeting the needs of those around us. As I shared this past Sunday, our church has given sacrificially to the Toy Store, Gideons International and the Lottie Moon Christmas offering.  With the devastating earthquake in Haiti, we have yet another opportunity to give. If you would like to give through our church, we will be receiving funds for the disaster relief efforts in Haiti. If you would like to contribute, please make your check payable to: Front Street Baptist Church and designate your check for Haiti Disaster Relief. All funds will go to NC Baptist relief efforts. Most importantly, please pray for the people of Haiti and for those working to assist those in need.

Wednesday's Nights This Spring

I would like to invite you to our Wednesday Night services in the sanctuary where we will be focusing on the topic of prayer. Prayer is an essential element of our church (Matthew 21:13) and our individual lives (Philippians 4:6-7). Our goal in this Wednesday night service is two-fold.

Goal #1 - We hope to encourage and equip believers to confidently approach God in prayer.

Goal #2 - To corporately seek God's face that we may determine who He has called us to be and how we live that out as a church.

I look forward to our time of worship this Sunday. Our text is John 14:15-24. I hope you will make time to read through this text while praying for our time together Sunday. I love you guys and am so thankful for the opportunity to serve alongside of you!

Pastor Tim

Sunday Night Small Groups

Beginning Sunday, January 31, 2010

5:30 - 7:15 p.m.

Book of Jonah  -  Beginning January 3
Led by Pastor Marvin

We will continue in our study of Jonah and will review earlier verses. Just as Jonah went into the depths, so the class will be going as deep into the Word as they can. Anyone wishing to participate is welcome to do so even if they were not in the previous class.

Faith Evangelism
Led by Pastor Tim

Faith Evangelism is a 12 week discipleship process that teaches Christians a clear, simple approach for sharing the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. The FAITH outline gives believers a versatile, biblical tool for demonstrating God's love for all people and for explaining why each person needs to turn from sin and accept the salvation of His Son, Jesus Christ. FAITH also teaches believers how to discuss spiritual matters with lost people in a natural way, share the difference Jesus has made in their lives, and lead others into a personal relationship with Him. We will spend the first part of our time together going over the material, and the last half will be spent making visits. It would be awesome if we could have representatives from many different Sunday School classes as FAITH encourages people to try a class where they will GROW with others.

Financial Peace University
Led by Sandra Oliver and Dionne Stutts

This life-changing program teaches you to achieve your financial goals by eliminating debt, saving for the future and giving like never before. You will be challenged and motivated to make a plan for your money and change your family tree forever.

Financial Peace University (FPU) consists of a 13-week video curriculum taught by financial expert Dave Ramsey-that incorporates small group discussions to encourage accountability and discipleship. Financial Peace University is highly entertaining for everyone, with a unique combination of humor, informative financial advice and biblical messages.

FPU will meet in the Jabez Sunday School classroom. We will begin each evening promptly at 5:30 and end by 7:15. The cost - per couple is $ 85.00. Please do not let the cost keep you from going through the class. If you cannot pay at the beginning of the class, you can delay payment until the end, or until you are able to implement some of the principles and are in a better financial position. If you are concerned about the cost, please see Sandra Oliver orDionne Stutts.

More than one million families have already had their lives changed by attending FPU.  We hope to see you there!

A Study of David - Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed (ladies)
From the Deeper Still Event - Priscilla Shirer/Beth Moore/Kay Arthur
Led by Bobbie James

Taped at the Deeper Still event, three women explored their lives and the life of David. You'll laugh with them, cry with them, and learn to love God with them. Each segment focuses on the life of David at a different stage of his life:  as a young man (by Priscilla Shirer), as a middle-aged man (by Beth Moore), and as a man facing the final third of his life (by Kay Arthur).  The workbook provides interactive, in-depth Bible study. This is an outstanding look at the life of King David from three perspectives.

How to Become Part of the Front Street Family

First, we would like to thank you for your interest in Front Street.  Before becoming a member, we feel that you should truly understand our heart and vision before you join our church family, and the new member's class is designed to help you have a clear understanding of your new church family.

Please note that you are not required to join Front Street after attending the New Member's Class.  In fact, you will not be pressured in any way to join.  We want to encourage you to continue to seek God's will on whether He desires for you to plant your life here with us.

The new member's class is a four week class, held during the Sunday School hour.  The next class will be held  in February.  Those dates for the adult class or for the children's class are February 7, 14, 21 and 28.  To sign up for the adult class (which includes youth), or to sign your child up for the children's class, please contact the church office at (704) 872-7623 or email Pastor Tim at tim@frontstreet.org.
