A Word From the Pastor

It was great to be back in worship yesterday morning. Just missing a week makes it seem like such a long time apart. This coming Sunday we will be studying John 15:1-11. This is a significant passage of Scripture with many applications for our lives. Christ describes us as branches who are connected to the Vine which is Himself. Apart from the Vine, the branches will die.  They can do absolutely nothing on their own. He calls us to abide in Him so that we will bear much fruit. He also says that he prunes the branches so that they will produce more fruit.

Have you ever stopped to think about pruning the branches? It is not that they are not producing, but it is that He wants them to produce more. The pruning process is never easy. In fact, many of us would probably choose to avoid the pruning process in order to avoid the pain of the process. This is true in church as well. Often times we would rather click along fulfilling the status quo rather than going through the necessary pruning process to be all that Christ desires for us to be. May God mold us and shape us to be the church that glorifies Him and produces much fruit. May He use us to impact the world around us, beginning in our community.

Until He comes,

Pastor Tim

It's not too late to join!

Book of Jonah  -  Beginning January 3
Led by Pastor Marvin
Friends and Family Classroom

We will continue in our study of Jonah and will review earlier verses. Just as Jonah went into the depths, so the class will be going as deep into the Word as they can. Anyone wishing to participate is welcome to do so even if they were not in the previous class.

Faith Evangelism
Led by Pastor Tim
Creative Worship Arts Classroom

Faith Evangelism is a 12 week discipleship process that teaches Christians a clear, simple approach for sharing the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ. The FAITH outline gives believers a versatile, biblical tool for demonstrating God's love for all people and for explaining why each person needs to turn from sin and accept the salvation of His Son, Jesus Christ. FAITH also teaches believers how to discuss spiritual matters with lost people in a natural way, share the difference Jesus has made in their lives, and lead others into a personal relationship with Him. We will spend the first part of our time together going over the material, and the last half will be spent making visits. It would be awesome if we could have representatives from many different Sunday School classes as FAITH encourages people to try a class where they will GROW with others.

Financial Peace University
Led by Sandra Oliver and Dionne Stutts
Jabez Classroom

This life-changing program teaches you to achieve your financial goals by eliminating debt, saving for the future and giving like never before. You will be challenged and motivated to make a plan for your money and change your family tree forever.

Financial Peace University (FPU) consists of a 13-week video curriculum taught by financial expert Dave Ramsey-that incorporates small group discussions to encourage accountability and discipleship. Financial Peace University is highly entertaining for everyone, with a unique combination of humor, informative financial advice and biblical messages.

FPU will meet in the Jabez Sunday School classroom. We will begin each evening promptly at 5:30 and end by 7:15. The cost - per couple is $ 85.00. Please do not let the cost keep you from going through the class. If you cannot pay at the beginning of the class, you can delay payment until the end, or until you are able to implement some of the principles and are in a better financial position. If you are concerned about the cost, please see Sandra Oliver orDionne Stutts.

More than one million families have already had their lives changed by attending FPU.  We hope to see you there!

A Study of David - Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed (ladies)
From the Deeper Still Event - Priscilla Shirer/Beth Moore/Kay Arthur
Led by Bobbie James
New Life Classroom

Taped at the Deeper Still event, three women explored their lives and the life of David. You'll laugh with them, cry with them, and learn to love God with them. Each segment focuses on the life of David at a different stage of his life:  as a young man (by Priscilla Shirer), as a middle-aged man (by Beth Moore), and as a man facing the final third of his life (by Kay Arthur).  The workbook provides interactive, in-depth Bible study. This is an outstanding look at the life of King David from three perspectives.

Urgent Missions Need:

Our Costa Rica team is needing additional funding to cover the cost of medicines and construction supplies.  Each person was responsible for his or her personal expenses for the trip, but the cost for these additional materials is currently being raised.

The medical and evangelism teams will be working primarily with Nicaraguan refugees who are in need of medical help.  The construction team will be building missionary apartments.  We need an additional $6,000 to cover all the supplies.  We appreciate your assistance with this.

How to Become Part of the Front Street Family

First, we would like to thank you for your interest in Front Street.  Before becoming a member, we feel that you should truly understand our heart and vision before you join our church family, and the new member's class is designed to help you have a clear understanding of your new church family.

Please note that you are not required to join Front Street after attending the New Member's Class.  In fact, you will not be pressured in any way to join.  We want to encourage you to continue to seek God's will on whether He desires for you to plant your life here with us.

The new member's class is a four week class, held during the Sunday School hour.  The next class will be held  in February.  Those dates for the adult class or for the children's class are February 7, 14, 21 and 28.  To sign up for the adult class (which includes youth), or to sign your child up for the children's class, please contact the church office at (704) 872-7623 or email Pastor Tim at tim@frontstreet.org.

Celebrate Recovery at Front Street has many upcoming happenings!     Special Thanks to Jeff Rich for a great testimony this past Monday night.   Jeff is a wonderful example of the power of God and the support of Celebrate Recovery.  Jeff gives thanks to God and CR for his three years sober.  Jeff found his sobriety and support to stay straight in Celebrate Recovery, a Christ Centered alternative to AA or NA as well as support for all habits that could divide us from our Lord and Savior.    Congratulations Jeff!  We are proud of you and Celebrate your Recovery with you.

Church Family, be sure to mark your calendars for several GREAT Upcoming events at CR.  We would love to have you join us.

Monday, February 15   Brother Ronnie Harmon will be teaching on Finding Victory in Jesus.

CR support + Jesus = Recovery and Healing from all Hurts, Habits and Hang-ups

Monday, February 22    Pastor Chris Williams, Woodleaf Baptist Church, will be sharing a powerful testimony on how God changed his views on people & diverse cultures.     Pastor Chris was a member of a white supremacist organization with a heart full of hate that is hard to imagine.   God changed his rage to unparalleled Love for ALL people.   Only God can change a heart and a mind using Brother Chris in ways no one but GOD could have imagined.    The Jabez Sunday School will be supplying wonderful home cooked food so don't miss this one.

Monday, March 1     Movie Night at CR We will be showing Fireproof and serving       Hot Spicy Chili and Hot Chicken Wings

This is a  movie that has inspired many people with struggling marriages.

About FIREPROOF

At work, inside burning buildings, Capt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighter's adage: Never leave your partner behind. At home, in the cooling embers of his marriage, he lives by his own rules.  Growing up, Catherine Holt always dreamed of marrying a loving, brave firefighter...just like her daddy. Now, after seven years of marriage, Catherine wonders when she stopped being "good enough" for her husband.   Regular arguments over jobs, finances, housework, and outside interests have readied them both to move on to something with more sparks.

As the couple prepares to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb's father challenges his son to commit to a 40-day experiment: "The Love Dare." Wondering if it's even worth the effort, Caleb agrees-for his father's sake more than for his marriage. When Caleb discovers the book's daily challenges are tied into his parents' newfound faith, his already limited interest is further dampened.

While trying to stay true to his promise, Caleb becomes frustrated time and again. He finally asks his father, "How am I supposed to show love to somebody who constantly rejects me?"  When his father explains that this is the love Christ shows to us, Caleb makes a life-changing commitment to love God. And with God's help begins to understand what it means to truly love his wife.

But is it too late to fireproof his marriage? His job is to rescue others. Now Caleb Holt is ready to face his toughest job ever...rescuing his wife's heart.
