A Word From the Pastor

Hopefully everyone received your 40 Days of Prayer Guide in the mail this week. It is our hope that everyone would join together in praying for our church and the many things happening here at Front Street. If you did not receive your prayer guide, we will have more copies at the church. We will also be sending out each days request in the daily email update from the church. If you are not signed up to receive that, please go to www.frontstreet.org and you can sign up at the bottom of the page.

This coming Sunday we will be in John 15:12-25. In these verses, we see the stark contrast between the love Christ has for His children and the hatred the world has for the children of God. Two weeks ago we talked about  God's love and how everything that He causes or allows in our lives is based on His love for us. Knowing how great His love is for us, we can face anything and we can endure any trial. I hope you will take some time this week to contemplate God's love for us. The more we grow to understand His love for us, the greater our love will grow for Him. I pray that we will encounter Him in a powerful way this Sunday!

Love you guys!

Pastor Tim

Urgent Missions Need:

Our Costa Rica team is needing additional funding to cover the cost of medicines and construction supplies.  Each person was responsible for his or her personal expenses for the trip, but the cost for these additional materials is currently being raised.

The medical and evangelism teams will be working primarily with Nicaraguan refugees who are in need of medical help.  The construction team will be building missionary apartments.  We need an additional $6,000 to cover all the supplies.  We appreciate your assistance with this.

Buckets of Hope

Families, Sunday School Classes, Prayer Partnerships, Awana groups, etc. can make a difference in Haiti by packing a Bucket of Hope. Contact
Kenny Lamm if you would like to take one of these on as a project. He has 10 free buckets to give to the first groups that want to do this. All you need to know is right here: http://bit.ly/9p5KYO

How to Become Part of the Front Street Family

First, we would like to thank you for your interest in Front Street.  Before becoming a member, we feel that you should truly understand our heart and vision before you join our church family, and the new member's class is designed to help you have a clear understanding of your new church family.

Please note that you are not required to join Front Street after attending the New Member's Class.  In fact, you will not be pressured in any way to join.  We want to encourage you to continue to seek God's will on whether He desires for you to plant your life here with us.

The new member's class is a four week class, held during the Sunday School hour.  The next class will be held  in February.  Those dates for the adult class or for the children's class are February 7, 14, 21 and 28.  To sign up for the adult class (which includes youth), or to sign your child up for the children's class, please contact the church office at (704) 872-7623 or email Pastor Tim at tim@frontstreet.org.

Monday, February 22    Pastor Chris Williams, Woodleaf Baptist Church, will be sharing a powerful testimony on how God changed his views on people & diverse cultures.     Pastor Chris was a member of a white supremacist organization with a heart full of hate that is hard to imagine.   God changed his rage to unparalleled Love for ALL people.   Only God can change a heart and a mind using Brother Chris in ways no one but GOD could have imagined.    The Jabez Sunday School will be supplying wonderful home cooked food so don't miss this one.

Monday, March 1     Movie Night at CR We will be showing Fireproof and serving       Hot Spicy Chili and Hot Chicken Wings

This is a  movie that has inspired many people with struggling marriages.

About FIREPROOF

At work, inside burning buildings, Capt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighter's adage: Never leave your partner behind. At home, in the cooling embers of his marriage, he lives by his own rules.  Growing up, Catherine Holt always dreamed of marrying a loving, brave firefighter...just like her daddy. Now, after seven years of marriage, Catherine wonders when she stopped being "good enough" for her husband.   Regular arguments over jobs, finances, housework, and outside interests have readied them both to move on to something with more sparks.

As the couple prepares to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb's father challenges his son to commit to a 40-day experiment: "The Love Dare." Wondering if it's even worth the effort, Caleb agrees-for his father's sake more than for his marriage. When Caleb discovers the book's daily challenges are tied into his parents' newfound faith, his already limited interest is further dampened.

While trying to stay true to his promise, Caleb becomes frustrated time and again. He finally asks his father, "How am I supposed to show love to somebody who constantly rejects me?"  When his father explains that this is the love Christ shows to us, Caleb makes a life-changing commitment to love God. And with God's help begins to understand what it means to truly love his wife.

But is it too late to fireproof his marriage? His job is to rescue others. Now Caleb Holt is ready to face his toughest job ever...rescuing his wife's heart.
