A Word From the Pastor

This coming Sunday we will finish up John 16. These words are the last words of instruction to His disciples before His death. Even though they are troubled in their spirit, He has described what is about to happen with the analogy of a woman in labor. While she is in labor, it is very painful. Once the child has been born, the woman no longer remembers the anguish which has been replaced by joy.

The disciples are about to experience the pain of Christ's death. However, that pain will give birth to joy on the morning of His resurrection. Even though we face days of uncertainty and hardships in this life, those do not compare to the joy that comes from being in Christ. I would ask you to join me in praying for our services this Sunday, that we will experience an outpouring of God's Spirit. I also ask that you would take time to pray through our passage which is John 16:16-33. I am looking forward to this corporate time of worship in the presence of God!

*IMPORTANT*  NB Mills Information

Because March begins on a Monday and Easter is the first Sunday in April, the schedule for teacher treats and children's Easter treat bags is a bit different.  Teacher treats for March will be due next Monday, March 8, 2010.  The treats for March are Tootsie Rolls, and the quote is :"We appreciate the "roll" you play at N. B. Mills".  Please be sure to include the name of the teacher on each treat to make it easier to place the treats in the teacher's boxes. The teacher treats for March need to be in the five year old SS class on Sunday, March 7, if you need assistance in delivering them. Because of Spring Break for the students, the Easter treat bags need to be delivered to the school on Wednesday, March 31st.  If you need assistance in getting these treat bags to the school, please bring them to the five year old SS class on Sunday, March 28th, and they will be delivered on the 31st.  The April teacher treat bags are due on April 12.  The treat for April is potato sticks, and the quote is "Thank you for always "sticking to it" with a great attitude". These treats need ot be in the five year old SS class on Sunday, April 11, for assistance in delivery.  Thank you for all that you do for the teachers and students of NB Mills school.  You are appreciated!

Please note that you are not required to join Front Street after attending the New Member's Class.  In fact, you will not be pressured in any way to join.  We want to encourage you to continue to seek God's will on whether He desires for you to plant your life here with us.

Join us this Monday for Celebrate Recovery.    This week we will return to Step 1 - Principal 1   Stepping Out of Denial.  Realize I'm not God.  I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable.    I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.  For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out."  (Romans 7:18)    Join us in the Fellowship Hall Monday at 6:30 for good food, great fellowship and experience the Love of Christ.    You are always welcome to come fellowship with us and show others God's love through your participation and service.   If you are looking for an active place to witness for the Lord, Celebrate Recovery is the Place to Be!  For questions please call Dan or Brenda Thompson at 704 779-7094.

Celebrate Recovery Ministry News.....   Many of you are asking,  "What IS Celebrate Recovery?".  The answer is simple.  In fact  many of us are discussing this ministry's Mission in our current Sunday School lessons.   GRACISM Is What Celebrate Recovery is All About!

Celebrate Recovery is:

·        A safe place to share your heart

·        A refuge

·        A place of belonging and acceptance

·        A place to care for others and be cared for

·        A place where respect is given to each member

·        A place where confidentiality is highly regarded; it is a requirement for our success

·        A place to learn

·        A place to demonstrate Christ's love

·        A place to grow and become strong again

·        A place for progress

·        A safe place where you can take off your mask and allow others to know you

·        A place for healthy challenges and healthy risks

·        A possible turning point in your life

Why Celebrate Recovery is unique to other recovery programs:

1.      Celebrate Recovery is based on God's Word; the Bible.

2.      Celebrate Recovery emphasizes spiritual commitment to Jesus Christ.

3.      Celebrate Recovery is forward looking.

4.      Celebrate Recovery emphasizes personal responsibility.

5.      Celebrate Recovery utilizes the Biblical truth that we need each other in order to grow spiritually and emotionally.

6.      Celebrate Recovery addresses all types of hurts, habits, and hang-ups.

We are a Christ Centered Recovery Program Based on the 8 Principles in the Beatitudes to help us with our hurts, habits, and hang-ups. A hurt, habit, or hang-up is ANY thing that hinders our walk with God.The feeling of being HURT is an emotional reaction to another person's behavior or to a disturbing situation (abuse, abandonment, codependency, divorce, relationship issues, etc.). A HABIT is an addiction to someone or something (alcoholism, drugs, food, gambling, sex, shopping, smoking, etc.). HANG-UPS are negative mental attitudes that are used to cope with people or adversity (anger, depression, fear, poor self-image, unforgiveness, etc.). These life problems can be stumbling blocks or stepping stones. Healing is available through applying the principles of a Bible based recovery process to our lives.

THANK YOU:
Dear Front Street Baptist,

Thank you to everyone who made the funeral service a celebration of Daddy's homegoing.  Please thank the ladies whose hands prepared the lovely meal that brought us together as a family.  The pianist's music and the solos that Kenny provided touched so many.  Pastor Tim and Pastor Marvin honored the Lord and our father with their tribute.

You will mostly likely never know what an impact you had on my father's life during his last days.  He saw for himself what he had heard for so long put into action and we were all blessed.  I am truly grateful.

With His love and our gratitude,
Paul Hatchett, Jr. and Family.
