The L.O.F.T - Where kids Live Out Faith Together
Sunday mornings
9:00-11:45 am Small groups and worship
Proverbs 22:6 tells us to “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Because of this instruction, those involved in the children’s ministry at Front Street Baptist Church have made it their mission to empower children to:
· Make the wise choice.
· Trust God no matter what.
· Treat others the way they themselves want to be treated.
AWANA
At FSBC, AWANA strongly emphasizes memorizing and understanding God’s Word. Psalms 119:11 says, “Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee.” Our prayer is that the verses our children learn in AWANA will help them to live Christ honoring lives. AWANA meets during the school year on Sunday evenings from 5:30 to 7:15 pm.
The Awana club for children in kindergarten through second grade, called Sparks, builds on the material taught in our preschool club. The aim of the curriculum is to take youngsters a step deeper into God’s Word while giving unsaved boys and girls regular opportunities to hear the gospel and come to faith in Jesus Christ. After being immersed in solid foundational teaching at the preschool level, boys and girls frequently come to an understanding of their need to trust Christ as their personal Savior while in Sparks.
The name T & T, Truth & Training, reflects the passion of Awana to teach third through fifth grade boys and girls the truth of God’s Word and to train them to follow Christ in their daily lives. Our goal is that many of today’s young people will become tomorrow’s church leaders. T&T is the program that trains the leaders of tomorrow — today.
KIMotion
(Kids In Motion)
Ages 3 yrs - 5th grade
Each Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 pm the children have a time of choirs, hand bells, and creative movement. Children will be learning songs to share with our congregation and community. They participate in special performances periodically throughout the year.
High Five
A missions opportunity offered during the summer for children who have completed third through fifth grade. The children plan and implement mission work in our community. Some of the things we have been involved with include: visiting nursing homes with games, songs, and gifts for the residents, ministering to residents of “My Sister’s House”, hosting an Old Fashioned Tea Party for the elderly residents of Summit Village, visiting with children at Lifespan, and serving at the South Yadkin Baptist Assoc.
Gimme Five
A missions opportunity offered during the summer for children ages five years old through second grade. The children implement mission work in our community. Some of the things we have been involved with include: taking snack mix to our local fire station, washing police cars, making cards and bookmarks for our Saints at Home, and giving out popsicles at our local park with church information.
Vacation Bible School
A weeklong Vacation Bible School is held during the summer months for children age 3 – grade 5. This is always an exciting, fun-filled week for the children. They learn Bible stories, sing, make fun crafts, play games and have snacks. A commencement service is usually held on the following Sunday morning during our worship service so that parents can hear their children sing many of the fun songs they have learned and enjoyed. Themes vary from year to year.
Trunks-of-Treats
This is an exciting event for Front Street and our community! It is usually provided as an alternative to Halloween. This outreach offers an opportunity for the children to get their treats in a safe, loving Christian environment. This is a huge outreach to our community, where we provide the gospel and invite them to worship with us on Sundays and other church happenings.
A personal note…
My name is Karen Shea, preschool &children’s director at Front Street. We would be honored to have your children participate in all areas of our children’s ministry. We are blessed with wonderful volunteers who teach and lead the different areas of ministry. Our volunteers are required to be screened for service by completing a Ministry Application. This is to ensure the safety of children who attend or visit our church. We welcome parent participation. If you have questions, please call me or email me. I would be happy to help you.
